Madame Royer, who discovered the works of Mark Nicdao at “Asia Now” last year, was excited to offer Mark, whose discovery she describes as one of her “most wonderful over the last few years”, this extraordinary opportunity to have a show in Venice, No need to pinpoint the growing importance of that scene for contemporary art. Venice, with all its foundations, museums, its “Biennale” and …its international collectors, definitely is the “place to be” for artists, along with Paris and London.

Called “Chapter 8 : Misfired synapses”, this new collection of 16 works, where we discover the emergence in Nicdao’s work of new colors, especially a recurrent terra cotta tonality (a tribute to Italy, its urban landscapes, its art?), deepens the philosophical matter already approached in the last two years, dedicating itself to the expression of a misfired synapse, a glitch in the symphony of existence that orchestrates both triumph and tribulation. In the very words of Mark Nicdao: “coalescing to recount the stories of human frailty, resilience, and the perpetual search for equilibrium”.
